What's so important about Valentine's day?
I think I already asked this question in one of my posts last year. I can't remember. Oh well *shrug*
Here's what I found about the history of Valentine's day. I already know the story because I looked it up last year, just out of curiosity. LoL
My point is, I don't celebrate this day because I don't see the point and importance of this day. Heck! I can eat chocolate anytime I want. LoL
But the question IS... why do we celebrate this day? I know I don't. And it has nothing to do with St Valentine anymore. Whenever I asked people about this day, I get the response... "it's about the chocolates and roses". Or is it?! One of the chief at work asked us in the office about the importance of this day. My reply... "so Hershey's can make more money by selling their specially boxed/wrapped chocolate kisses and other kind of chocolates " and one of co-worker said something about the roses.
Other people do special things on this day with their love ones. But why wait for this day to do something special for your special someone? Why not do something special everyday?! Do something silly or simple that will him/her laugh or smile or happy. You don't have to $pend so much dinero on little things. Of course it's different if it's you're bf/gf/hubby/wifey's birthday falls on 14 Feb. You're pretty much obligated to do something special for them and not to forget HER gift, but that's besides the point.
I was watching the news earlier and they were talking about how people $pend more money now-a-days on Valentine's day gift compare to the earlier years. It's like Christmas all over again. People spend mucho dinero on hi-tech gadgets like nice new cellphones, camera, jewelries, etc. instead of traditional gifts like chocs and flowers. At least that's what they said on the news.
And did you notice how the flower shops hiked up the prices of the flowers?! Not just the flower shops, those vans also that sell roses on the side of the road. That's funny when I see those vans. On a regular day, dozen roses can be cheap as low as $10, sometimes $5. But on Valentine's day, that same dozen of roses goes up to $25, and that doesn't include the bear holding a heart shaped pillow. If you want that, it's going to cost you a little more. Isn't that crazy?!
And an interesting fact that I always hear on the radio after v-day... if you were born in Nov, you're a Valentine baby. Ha ha...
I think I doodle enough for now. I need sleep. Goodnight bloggers!
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
